Baer was in town filming for a new WTTW special about the South Suburbs, covering the region from Dalton all the way down to Crete.
While here, he filmed an interview with a historian from Detroit who has researched the story of an enslaved girl who came through Crete on the Underground Railroad during her journey to freedom.
Baer also spoke about the incredible pride people throughout the South Suburbs have in their history and the deep research residents have done to preserve it.
The new WTTW series will feature six programs covering different regions of the Chicago area. The South Suburbs episode is expected to air in late 2027.
Crete has a pretty incredible story to tell. We can’t wait to see it on WTTW!
