2022 Crete Pavement Program Completed

Donning a yellow safety vest and bright orange spray can in hand, Crete Mayor Michael Einhorn inspected the Williamsburg roadway before the start of this year’s pavement program.

“I’m pointing out by where I paint, what loose ends I think that are out here. Hopefully they will address every one of them,” Mayor Einhorn said.

From Williamsburg to the downtown Crete area to Lincolnshire, many Village roadways received a makeover this summer.

“We have to spend as much money as we can allow each year, and eventually it all gets taken care of,” the mayor said.

Rising costs of materials posed a challenge when planning this year’s pavement program.

“Unfortunately, the prices went up, about 38 percent,” Mr. Einhorn added.

However, the Village board did not compromise on quality of materials, and the new blacktop should last for at least 20 years.

“If the roads are taken care of, that kind of gives you an idea of how much they care about the way their town looks, I would agree with you 100 percent,” Mr. Einhorn said.

The 2022 Pavement Program concluded last month.
