Crete Water Service Line Survey
Crete residents should have received this water survey flyer in the mail.
Please help improve your community by completing it, which should take no more than five minutes. More information in the video below, and at CreteSurvey.com
To complete the survey, you will need to locate the pipe that carries water into your house. Most often it can be found in your basement or crawl space. It is about one inch in diameter and comes in through the wall or floor, and has a water meter connected to it.
As close to the wall as possible, use a screwdriver or key to gently scratch the surface of the water pipe. It should reveal the metal, either silver or a shiny copper. Some pipes may be covered with rust or paint. Make sure to scratch away any surface coating to get accurate results.
Please take at least three photos to document your findings:
1. Closeup of the scratch test.
2. From about three feet away, showing the water meter, scratch test area and any valves.
3. Showing the surrounding area around the meter.
Please ensure photos are well lit and in focus.
Next, please send us your photos and observations by visiting http://CreteSurvey.com
Please make sure to include photos, your address, phone number and the result of your scratch test. Providing us with this information will eliminate the need for us to visit your house and perform the same type of inspection.

We appreciate your participation in the survey. The data collected will be used to plan and make future necessary water system improvements.
