You must register with the Illinois Department of Revenue if you conduct business in Illinois, or with Illinois customers. This includes sole proprietors (individual or husband/wife/civil union), exempt organizations, or government agencies withholding for Illinois employees.

Contractor License
In Illinois, general contractors are not licensed at the state level, however, you do need to register your business with the Illinois Department of Revenue and apply to the Village of Crete.
Oxcart Permitting
The Village of Crete now uses Oxcart Permit Systems LLC to manage permitting of transporting overweight/oversized loads. If you need to transport an overweight/oversized load on a village street, you should apply for a permit at: www.oxcartpermits.com.
