A Summer Update From the Mayor

Dear Residents,

This summer will be a busy and productive season in our Village as we undertake substantial infrastructure work.

Thanks to careful planning and effective resource management, our goal is to enhance the quality and longevity of our facilities without increasing taxes.

We are set to pave roads in several key areas, including the downtown business district, Swiss Valley subdivision, Oakwood Estates subdivision, Greenbriar subdivision, Williamsburg subdivision, and Columbia Street south of Richton Road. These projects represent over $1 million in costs, reflecting our commitment to maintaining and improving our roadways.

Additionally, the parking area by Haweswood Park is being reconstructed and paved to improve accessibility and convenience for park visitors.

We are also installing a new water main from Division to Herman along Benton Street’s right-of-way, ensuring a more reliable water supply for residents.

This summer, one of our major projects involves the water tower near State and Richton. It will be sandblasted, primed, and painted, adding approximately 30 years to its lifespan. This essential maintenance underscores our dedication to preserving vital infrastructure.

We are also exploring the costs associated with replacing the concrete apron at Fire Station #2, the concrete floor inside the DPW main building, and the floor inside the police garage. These improvements are crucial for the functionality and safety of our emergency and public works services.

Moreover, new water mains are being installed in the southeast section of old Lincolnshire. This project is funded by a grant estimated to cost about $1.1 million. This significant investment will enhance water quality and service reliability for many residents. Our ability to undertake such extensive improvements is a testament to good planning, both in engineering and financial management.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work to enhance our Village. These upgrades will bring long-term benefits to our community, improving the quality of life for all residents. Let’s look forward to a summer of progress and positive change.

Warm regards,

Michael S. Einhorn
Village President
