Patrol Officers are the sworn personnel that are well trained and certified by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board. Our patrol officers are the backbone and they are the first responders to calls from the public for police service and maintain a constant vigilance against criminal activity.
Their primary responsibility is the protection of life and property, preservation of the peace, and the enforcement of state, federal, local ordinances, and the investigation of suspicious activity. When not on assignment, officers actively engage in preventative control including traffic enforcement.
The department has four sergeants who supervise the patrol officers and maintain accountability in the performance of their duties.
