looking for highly motivated individuals for our paid-on-call staff. As a
paid-on-call fire fighter for the Department, you will be responsible
for responding to emergency calls, providing fire suppression and
emergency services to the residents of Crete.
The job requires
specialized training, mechanical aptitude, endurance, strength, courage,
dependability, and selflessness. This is a job that puts you in the
public eye and requires positive interaction with the citizens who need
our services. Being a public servant (a firefighter) is one of the lost

How do you join?
Embark on a demanding and very satisfying career as a member of the
Crete Fire Department; you will be competing against others for a
limited number of openings. The Crete Fire Department is constantly
seeking applicants for "paid-on-call" firefighters and reviews
applications when there are openings in the paid-on-call division. The
hiring process is as follows:
- Application
- Interview
- Background Check
- Physical
- Approval from Fire Chief
- Fire Fighter II Academy
- EMT-B Program
- Six months - one year probation period
Minimum Requirements:
- 18 years old
- US citizen
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
